7.2 Great Basin

The northern Cheyenne of Wyoming and Montana succeeded in 1974 to have their coal leases cancelled because the government Indian authorities had not negotiated reasonable terms for the tribe. New guidelines were issued to make sure that the Indians’ interests were taken into consideration when such leases were discussed.
